“We are in our fifth year of the WHNPA Student Photographer of the Year competition and every year the student entries amaze us,” said contest chairwoman Jamie Rose. “The judges had a very difficult job to find the best overall portfolio from 49 entries. However, when they saw Bob’s portfolio they all agreed he was the clear winner. We are very excited for both Bob and Syracuse as this is the school’s first POY from our contest.”
Upon learning of his win, Miller said: “I am honored to be selected as this year’s winner! The teaching I got at Syracuse under Tom Kennedy and others was really fundamental to my growth as a photographer.” “Bob Miller is not just an incredibly talented photographer, but more importantly, he is one of the nicest human beings you will ever meet! All of the faculty at Newhouse/S.U. are extremely proud of Bob and look forward to seeing how he to world issues through his unique style of visual storytelling,” said Bruce Strong, Associate Professor/Incoming Multimedia Photography & Design Department Chair.
