Ms. Curry’s images tell an evocative, inspiring and eye-opening story about the lives of the people of Darfur and their struggle for human rights under the dictatorial regime of Sudanese leader Omar al Bashir and the brutal attacks by the Janjaweed militia. Both Curry and Sanfuentes are accomplished photographers who augment their broadcast journalism duties with still photography. Their images illustrate the peacefulness that was, and the realities of human rights abuse now taking a human toll on an entire society.
Dodge-Chrome, Inc., a recently formed partnership of Dodge Color of Silver Spring, MD and Chrome Imaging of Georgetown, produced the images for this exhibit. The Washington School of Photography is grateful for their generous contribution and participation in raising awareness of the human rights abuse in Darfur.
