Surviving the Digital Challenge
The Seminar, Surviving the Digital Challenge, presented by WHNPA and American University School of Communication, was a success. Over one hundred and thirty people came and stayed on a beautiful Saturday, which could have been enjoyed in many other ways. Lucian Perkins, and Steve Crowley put on magnificent presentations. Pierre Kattar explained the grammar of video sequencing which permitted the audience to see what a videojournalist has in mind in the construction of a story. The highlight of the afternoon was a presentation, perhaps a revival session, by Michael Rosenblum, a pioneer of “backpack” journalism. Evan Nisselson and Keith Jenkins were contributors on the final panel, which shed some light on the future of the news gathering profession.
