Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Arts Program

Washington Dulles International Airport

CALL TO WHNPA Photographers
Deadline: September 28, 2009

Washington Dulles International Airport

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (Airports Authority) Arts Program commissions site-specific artwork for Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan National Airports.  The Arts Program incorporates art in the various facilities of the Airports Authority.

The Airports Authority is seeking photographic art for the Concourse C Connector Hall location of Washington Dulles International Airport. The area will open to the public as soon as the AeroTrain is in service.  Some 13,000 domestic and international passengers will travel through the Concourse C Connector on a daily basis. The Concourse C Connector Hall has been designated in our Arts Master Plan for photography, specifically for artists’ perceptions of the Greater Washington Region landscape and the Greater Washington people.

Appropriate themes are iconic images of Washington, landmarks, sports teams, universities, area scenes.  I realize that most of the photographs you take deal with political themes but MWAA does not allow political imagery on airport. Also, while your photography may not require model releases, we require model releases for people who are clearly featured in a photograph.

Interested photographers should send a lightbox of appropriate images for consideration to:Margaret.Bishop@mwaa.com <mailto:Margaret.Bishop@mwaa.com> by September 28, 2009.

There are two alternatives for compensation for photographs in this exhibit. An image can be displayed with your name as well as the WHNPA logo, or it can be displayed with no credit and payment will be made to the photographer for the use of the image in that area.  If you choose the latter, please note your required fee for each photo.  An Arts Program Committee will select images and photographers will be notified as early as next week if their image has been selected for the exhibit.
