Remembering Charles Tasnadi
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of photojournalist Charles Tasnadi, who died January 10 while in hospice care in Washington, DC. Tasnadi, a refugee from Communist Hungary in 1951, was an accomplished photographer who in his early years worked as a stringer for Time-Life before an illustrious 32-year career with the Associated Press, where he took some of AP’s most famous images of American leaders and historial political events. In 1996 the WHNPA honored Charlie with a Lifetime Achievement in Photojournalism award.
”Chivalry, professionalism, and selfless dedication were Tasnadi’s hallmarks,” said WHNPA business director Heidi Elswick “The epitome of a photojournalist and a gentleman, he documented seven White House administrations and traveled to Cuba more than 40 times, gaining extraordinary access to Fidel Castro and other Cuban officials.”
Additional information and funeral arrangements will be posted on the WHNPA in memoriam page, as it becomes available.
