DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
The Concord Monitor seeks a Director of Photography to lead its
award-winning staff.
The Monitor, a 20,000-circulation daily paper in New Hampshire’s capital,
has a strong tradition of excellent daily photojournalism and documentary
projects. The Monitor staff has won many national awards, including NPPA,
SND and POYi awards for “Best Use of Photos”, “Photo Story,” campaign
coverage and picture editing. Columbia Journalism Review and Time magazines
called the Monitor one of the best small newspapers in the country.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and a commitment to
coaching photographers. He or she will be highly organized, deadline driven
and have a track record of community journalism. The successful candidate
will also bring experience in multimedia storytelling on the web. In our
small newsroom, the photo editor works closely with the city editor and
features editors, generating story ideas and collaborating on design. The
job involves shooting periodic assignments when necessary. Outgoing photo
editor Dan Habib will be screening applicants. Please send a resume (with
