STUDENT POY CONTEST - SATURDAY MARCH 15 9:30 AM
We have over 41 entries from over 20 schools around the country this year. I think it was a huge success for 2008 and we have great plans for 2009!
The Student Contest Committee wants to invite you all to the open judging of the White House News Photographers Assoc. Student Photographer of the Year competition this Saturday, March 15th starting at 9:30 a.m. As this is the first year of the competition, we are very excited for you all to see the entries and hear the judges comments!
This year’s judges are Katie Ellsworth, Photo Editor for Time Magazine, Gina Martin, Collections Manager for the National Geographic Society + Look3 Festival Coordinator, and WHNPA Photographer of the Year Jahi Chikwendiu, staff photographer for The Washington Post. We are really lucky to have such great talent on this year’s judging panel.
The judging is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC so we’d love to have lots of people there to support the judges and thank them for giving of their Saturday! We had over 40 entries this year for the contest and they are really impressive! You will all be amazed at the work these students are doing out there!
If you are a professor or a student, please encourage other students to attend as this is a great learning experience. (Professors: extra credit to the students who attend is usually a great motivator!)
