Good afternoon WHNPA members,
I wanted to let you know about the wonderful Q&A session that 2012 WHNPA ‘Eyes of History’ Photographer of the Year, Charles Dharapak had yesterday afternoon at The Newseum! So many people they ran out of seating. Your exhibit is amazing and runs thru March 2013. Special Thank you to Nikon for supporting this exhibit.

Over the summer months, your board has been planning for events and programming for our members.

Please be aware of the following events and dates and mark your calendars to attend.
On Tuesday, Oct: 2 from 630p to 8p - WHNPA members may be interested in attending a discussion on police, protests and press coverage where you will hear an expert panel discuss a hypothetical real-life scenario involving these issues:
* What are the limits of press coverage of a protest occurring on courthouse grounds? Or in the courthouse itself?
* Under what circumstances can a press photographer’s camera and/or memory card be confiscated by law enforcement?
* What are the limits of press coverage or photography when a police officer gives a legitimate order to move?
Panelists include:

November 29: General Membership meeting at WTTG… special guest speaker:
**Plan to bring your checkbook, credit cards and Cash! WHNPA branded merchandise will be available for sale!! Just in time for the holidays!!!

*Inauguration Day…FYI… Edison Gallery has offered to be open that day to the public, showcase our historical exhibit and serve as a ‘Photojournalist Welcome station for the day”. Details to follow!!!
Feb. 8-10:
*2013 ’ Eyes of History’ Contest Judging weekend.
Feb. 8th.
*General Membership meeting and judges showcase… Grosvenor Auditorium- WHNPA Board Elections.
Feb. 9 & !0:
*Judging: Stills, Video and New Media… various locations at National Geographic building. We will also judge the student contest this weekend.
May 11, 2013 : 2013 ‘Eyes of History’ Awards gala at the Ritz Carlton, 92nd year! Not to be missed!!!
***Prep/planning help is needed…. please contact Heidi ASAP if you are willing to help in advance with the gala.
