Subject: WHNPA Member News
Dear WHNPA Members,
Some important information for you to know and dates to save follow. Your 2009 membership renewal letters will arrive shortly after the election is over. Please make every effort to renew early, as your eligibility for all contests is determined by good standing within the association.. A gentle reminder, NO dues checks will be accepted by any contest committee. This means, if you are planning to enter, please return your renewal form along with payment BEFORE you submit your entries. PayPal is still an option for those traveling or simply wanting the convenience.
AND… please join the WHNPA in congratulating, WTTG-TV’s Mike Horan, for being inducted into the NATAS ‘Silver Circle’ on November 22, for over 25 years of service in the broadcast industry. Looking forward to seeing each of you soon.

November 15, 2008. WHNPA Project Grant deadline. Imagine $5,000 to be spent on a project of your choosing!!!!
A reminder to all WHNPA members that as the 2008 Presidential election campaign comes to a close the deadline is fast approaching for the 2008 WHNPA Grant. Because of the election, the deadline was extended one month and applications are due by Saturday, November 15.
“Think in terms of multimedia and as wide of a distribution as possible,” WHNPA Educational Committee chairman Leighton Mark said. “Having high quality audio with the photos can make an amazing difference, it can make the project so much stronger.
And look beyond your newspaper, magazine or agency and think about a gallery display someplace, a multimedia Web offering - anything that gets your work to be seen by as many people as possible.”
Project proposals need to be mailed, Fed-Ex’ed to or dropped by the offices of the Associated Press, 1100 13th Street, Suite 700, Washington, D.C., 20006, Attention: Leighton Mark
Questions can be addressed to Lmark@ap.org.
“If you don’t see a quick response, send it again. I might have missed it the first time.”

Last year’s project grant winner was Jamie Rose. For more information on the WHNPA grants, visit our web site.
